What are the entry requirements for Master studies in Sweden?

For entry to a Master's study programme, the minimum requirement is a 4- year Bachelor's degree, or a Bachelors degree followed by a Master's degree. Some, but not all, study programmes require for that first degree to be in a related field. Consideration will also be given to applicants who have attained a 3-year Bachelor's degree with honours in certain social science or humanities majors.Students holding only a 3-year Bachelor's degree without honours will not satisfy the entry requirements for a Master's programme. The following degrees do not satisfy the entry requirements for a master's programme:

  • A Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from India, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh
  • A Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery from India, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh

Specific entry requirements change depending on not only university but also programme .You need to thoroughly check the corresponding program website before forwarding the application

What is important to have in mind when I rank my selections?

You can only keep 4 program preferences to Sweden hence its important to prioritise your selections so that you rank them in order with the most desirable first. You can be accepted to no more than 45 credits per term. You may consider the following factors while prioritizing your program preference list . World ranking of your preferred universities, research opportunities provided by university, Location of your university etc

What is a transcript?

A transcript is a list of all the courses you have taken, either individually or as part of a programme of study, with the result (grade) you obtained, and sometimes the credit value of each course. If you are currently studying, your university’s registrar’s office will be able to produce a transcript of the courses you have taken so far. If you have completed your study, the transcript may also show your final award (usually as a class or CGPA).

How much is the application fee?

The application fee is 900 SEK (Swedish kronor). The application fee will cover the costs associated with the processing of your admission application.

When should I pay the first instalment of my tuition fee?

It is strongly recommended that you pay the first instalment of your tuition fee as soon as you have made your decision and replied to your Notification of Selection Results. The residence permit application process will not begin at the Swedish Migration Agency until your first tuition instalment has been paid. As this can take some time, you should pay your first tuition fee instalment as soon as possible.
